Hi,
Just wanted to put out the good word on a seminar being held August 6th - 10th at the Korean Cultural Center on Wilshire Boulevard, about five blocks east of Museum Square.
I attended last year and it was fabulous - one of the very best ever! The caliber of the speakers is outstanding - on a level with the presenters we're hearing from in the UTLA series (national, in some cases international experts in their field) - and the cultural experience are well thought out and very generous. Every day we were treated to a variety of Korean dishes (who knew I'd like kim chi?!) and were given books and research materials. (If you've read 'Still Life With Rice' or 'In the Absence of Sun', you might want to sign up as one of the facilitators is the author, Helie Lee.) There are also a couple of field trips to restaurants and - my best experience of the week - a Buddhist monastery.
I can't recommend this workshop highly enough!
if you're interested, contact Mary Connor (a great lady whose one the driving forces behind bringing this experience to teachers) at [email protected] and tell her I sent you
Or I can email you an application form.
Space is limited and there are teachers traveling in from out of state to attend, so don't leave it too late.
Best wishes,
Ray
