I guess every culture has its pain and changes because of coveteousness of socio - economic affluences. After exposed to The Last Train Home, I remembered the movie" El Norte" Guatemalan brother and sister enter US illegally in pursue of economic affluence, but loses real happiness and health at the end. " The Last Train Home" may be a documentary, and "El Norte" a movie, their resemblances of seeking capitalistic dreams and happiness resulted in pain and suffering.

The way I see it, they are not really seeking "Capitalistic Dreams" they are seeking a better way of life. After I finished watching "The Last Train Home" and reviewing "El Norte" I came to the conclusion that there are a great deal of similarities, but I believe that what they are looking for in both cases is the means to provide a better future and way of life to their families and themselves. I agree that there is a lot of disappointment and suffering in their quest. However, it is the only way they have available to find a better life. I don't think that capitalism is the correct term to use when discussing this movies because these people are struggling to fulfill their families' basic needs and that is not a capitalistic dream is a basic human right.

Interesting analogy, although with El Norte, they were leaving their home for good, and going to a better place. In Last Train Home, their's is more like a work commute, and the place they are commuting to is pretty miserable. Nonetheless, interesting analogy, both films are fantastic. More than anything, I marvel at how monastic the lifestyle of the Chinese couple is. They do their work, they eat, they sleep, and then they do it all over again. And they never seem to complain. It's impressive.
