Again due to circumstances beyond my control, a court appearance for the custody issues I am going through again kept me from attending our last session. Again I am deeply saddened to have missed, I feel like I missed out on some very interesting and valuable information. However again it afforded me an opportunity to go to another museum. This time I traveled to the San Diego Museum of Art and say their Art of East Asia Exhibit.
Again I feel like one thing I am always missing would be more visuals, I feel like when you tell students about things it is different than when you can show them. I know we all learn differently and for myself I like to be able to show my students visuals. Now I found this museum to not be as interesting as the USC Pacific Asia Museum but I thought it had some very interesting things as well. There was a lot of paintings, ceramics and metalwork from China, Japan and Korea, which again I was excited to be able to utilize when I teach about these areas. One thing that I thought was very interesting was the fact that there were hands on elements that allowed me to interact with the art. The one that really caught my attention was the Chinese tomb art. I was working on ways to compare and contrast this to ancient Egyptian tomb art.
