For this make up assignment i attended a Buddhist service at the Orange County Buddhist Church in Anaheim California. I have played basketball at the temple for many years but had never attended any of the services. Although I did not participate in any of the meditation, it was an educational experience. I was introduced to Shin Buddhism which became an independent school of the religion in 12th century Japan. It was brought to the US by Japanese Immigrants in the early 1900s and has been practiced in California for over 100 years. The church also has a Japanese language school and organizes many summer camps and sports programs for youths and adults.
