    Hello,

For those of you interested on a good website resource for Medieval Japan, I recommend the following PBS website focusing on Medieval Japan (link below). This website was made in connection with a video PBS created by the same name (Japan: Memoirs of a Secret Empire). The website provides resources, timelines as well as a neat section where you are able to choose a character either in Edo or Tokaido and learn about them (ie. samurai, ronin, geisha, daimyo, artisans, monks, etc..). All in all, it is bring good & could lend to some assistance in helping students understand this era a bit more.

This link provides access to another very useful resource. Among the many items that are on this site is the timeline of medieval Japanes history. When you position the mouse pointer over a particular image in the timeline, a short (three to five word) description of the visual appears on the far right immediately above the timeline.

It wasn't clear to me how to get the timeline to scroll to a year earlier than 1543, which seems a bit odd for a timeline of Medieval Japan. With a little effort, I may figure it out. But the dates that were readily accessible are informative nonetheless. Good resource.

    Hi!

It's not you! The timeline only scrolls to 1543, the birthday of Tokugawa Ieyasu, because it's focused on the Edo period.

It does look like an interesting resource, though!
