I admit that I do not regularly follow local or world news. My extent of news watching is checking the weather or traffic conditions. But I am grateful for the time we spent discussing Korea because it made me aware of recent North Korean belligerence, and this allowed for some lively discussions in my classes. The Wednesday following a Tuesday night lecture, I was constantly thinking about Kim Jong Un and I shared my feelings with my high school students. They were also unaware of the aggressive stance North Korea was taking. Their responses ranged from anger to confusion and discussions and opinions ranged from U.S. retaliation to not taking Kim seriously. The students and I enjoyed those discussions on current events.
