Lovely woman. I felt as if she might of thought we were to read the whole book at which point I would say.........I have not. It seems as though what I did read wasn't discussed...o well. I would have liked to have validated her and her field a little more. I actually would have liked to have more time with her in discussion of the lititure and its referance. I was luminated and provoked with it meaning. This is what always seems to attract and interest me about the lovely Japanese culture.

I really enjoyed her discussion of Japanese Literature. Based on her discussion, I am putting together a lesson around the TALE OF GENJI. I will post it when it is done.

I have also decided to work with my school's librarian to purchase more graphic novels for our library with the grant that will be provided by my completing this program.

=:O Enjoyed her presentation-as I have really enjoyed all our presenters throughout the seminar.
She was obviously really enthralled with The Tales of Genji (as her extensive collection atests to). I would have liked more information on poetry. I am sure there must be many noteworthy poems that we could have analzed a bit.
As is evident here, I was somewhat disappointed by her limited focus. Almost felt like we were being inducted into the Tales of Genji bookclub (whoops-that was a tad meanspirited).

I loved her presentation on Tales of Genji. All of the visuals that she passed around were great. I didn't detect a lack of focus nor any weaknesses in her presentation. To me, she knew her stuff!

As I write my reflection of the seminar experience, and review my notes on the various classes, I find I couldn't agree more about Ms. Miyake. Not only was she a lovely person, but her enthusiasm for her subject matter was infectious. She bestowed a welcome sense of gentility that so well complimented her presentation.

Ms. Miyake had an excellent presentation. I really appreciated all of the books and literature she brought along to share with us. Between the interesting lecture and all of the books we got to preview the time just flew by. It was a difficult act she had to follow, after we had seen the gardens, but she did a good job.

Ms. Miyake was an excellent teacher. She was very through about such an expansive subject considering her time constraints. I thought the various samples of manga and other texts (including videos) were very helpful resources.

I really enjoyed Ms. Miyake. I felt that the ideas she shared could be used in my English class as well as my Ancient Civ class. Since I have block scheduling with my History and English, I try to incorporate liturature of the civilizations we study. There has been a lot of talk about adding more time for English and math, and taking away time from History and Science. If this change does occur, I will need to pull History into English as much as possible. As she spoke, I started to get exciting about sharing some of her ideas with my students.
