    In an LA Times article ("Dialing Back Chinese Anger") Protesters are holding up a "Support Olympics" banner at a Chinese branch of a French market chain in the picture. This is because France is a target due to the Olympic torch relay being disrupted there. This is evidence to back up the government's fear that passions could spill over into the real world and that anger directed against foreigners could turn inward.

    For those of you who will be watching the Opening Ceremonies, the Palos Verdes High School Band will be there to perform. They have been preparing since last year.
    There will be a group of students, parents, and friends who will travel together for the event. The band director is Shellie Parkinson and I believe she contacted our Chinese teacher Chi Fame-Kao to get some tips and cultural lessons/information.
