KeymasterI know that this is late, but I just remembered that I missed one day and that I had to make this up. I visited the Pacific Asia Museum in Pasadena a few days ago and fell in love with this little gem of a museum on Los Robles off of Colorado in Pasadena. I was really content because I found that every 4th Friday of the month the museum is free and the parking is free as well. It is small and unassuming from the outside, with bright dragons and animals painted on the building. The Center has a wonderful courtyard garden and koi pond. The ceramics collections and the collection of artifacts from Thailand were beautiful. The colors of the ceramics were amazing. I don’t that I figured out how they managed to make those colors. The artifacts from Thailand were awesome in their detail.
Several of the galleries were off limits when I went because of they were being prepared for new exhibits. I think that I particularly enjoyed the exhibit, Chinamen’s Chance: Views of the Chinese –American Experience”. I think that is was great because it was a really great view of what three different artists saw as there and their families own individual experience. It was both very personal and historical, providing a different view of being Chinese –American that I had seen or that I expected. I was very pleased and quite moved by some of the pieces, especially a video show on canvas that was really beautiful. This is a highly recommended little space and really one of those unassuming jewels that we are so lucky to have in Los Angeles.

GuestI went to this museum as well. I think I toured it the end of June or early July. I enjoyed it as well. If you go during the week, I think it's only $7.

GuestI agree with both you! I went to this museum as a make up assignment, and it was a very chill day. I was thinking that perhaps I can take my 5th period honors students there as a field trip (7th grade world history). Its a little bit small, but i like how they clearly separated the different asian cultures into different sections. I especially liked seeing the section of all the mini-figures that would remind students of the Terra cotta warriors in China

GuestIt is always a positive experience at this museum. Many field trips here can lead to an engaging lesson should you have difficulty finding inspirations.
