I believe that some of the best things that happened during the conference occured afterwards. I have already shared quite a few of the resources with the social studies department at my school. I was not given a social studies class this year (sadness, I know) due to drops in student enrollment but I have shared ideas i had with my coworkers. I have a meeting to discuss using one of our staff development hours to go and work more in depth with them.

I also felt that being at the conference, I learned a lot from the other attendants and also believe that I have really made it an effort to create more of a structure with my English department and share more of my assignments and projects that focus on Asian themes with my coworkers and hopefully inspire them also.

Personally, I shared a lot of the pictures I took and things I learned that were easy to grasp and get into with my friends. They have in turn already begun visiting the Pacific Asian Museum and the gardens. One of my friends, Mark is Asian and he's been sharing some information with me. Ultimately, I think the conference was beneficial and have already begun sharing its existence with colleagues.

    Gracie,
Thanks for these observations. It's wonderful that your colleagues are so interested and eager to benefit from the insights you've developed. Please encourage them to get on the mailing list by writing to Xin and Nallely at [email protected].
