Some of the lessons included in the reading were so useful.
I can use many of them in English and in my AVID classes.
The debate topics are great because they are so universal, yet relevant to high school students.

I was very excited to see within the reading a discussion about the alphabet in terms of translation of the Chinese characters. I want to print that page out and bring it to class. As an English teacher I do find interest in the way two very different languages interact with each other and how they may be influencing each other. Ezra Pound is famous for a collection of Chinese poems he translated and yet he couldn't read the language. That raises interesting questions about the translations and about the ability to move between the two very different languages.

    Hi all,

Please print out the attached reading material for next session and read it before the session. Our second session will be mainly based on the reading material. You can share your thoughts about the reading under the thread "session 2 w/Dr. Clayton Dube".
