Reflection: Session 6 – Prof Dubey (March 27)
At today’s session I learned about “Science and Civilization of China” – multi-volume series in the library. I plan to use this wonderful resource for lesson on original ‘gun powder’ from China.
Prof Dubey also shared a glaring example of severe consequences of straight talk in China. For example here is a quote from Bo Xilai made back on 9 march 2009 when he was Secretary of CCP Central Communist Party (CCP): “As Chairman Mao said he was building the nation, the goal of our building a socialist society is to make sure everyone has a job to do and food to eat, that everybody is wealthy together CAPITALISM. We’ve failed. If a new capitalist class is created then we’ll really have turned onto a wrong road.” No wonder, within a week of making that speech, he was removed from the party position and was unemployed!
