Having taken the class last year, I thought that the issues for Tuesday's session might be old news, but I was happy to hear when Clay said that there is something special about teaching/learning about geography. As the class went on, I was pleasantly surprised at how much stuff was also new/fresh. I am teaching World Geo this semester and I tell my students many things from this class, primarily that geography is very relative. I use some of the examples that Clay used, specifically the map of North Korea at night. I then also go into other NASA maps about where in the world there is such usage, or lack of. I also emphasize the namimg of territories/water bodies, etc. We really don't put much stock into this until it means something to us personally, and I try to deliver that to my students. @gsharpe, thanks for the North Korea link, I will certainly have to use sections of it for my class. Thanks for pointing it out.

I am intrigued by how the population density of a city affects the cultural tendencies of its people. I can’t imagine pushing or bumping someone without apologizing or saying excuse me. I suppose I would get used to it fairly quickly. The largest benefit of this seems to be the positive community aspects and increased cultural opportunities in entertainment and the arts. And internet ten times faster than what I get now? Sign me up.
