Having taken the class last year, I thought that the issues for Tuesday's session might be old news, but I was happy to hear when Clay said that there is something special about teaching/learning about geography. As the class went on, I was pleasantly surprised at how much stuff was also new/fresh. I am teaching World Geo this semester and I tell my students many things from this class, primarily that geography is very relative. I use some of the examples that Clay used, specifically the map of North Korea at night. I then also go into other NASA maps about where in the world there is such usage, or lack of. I also emphasize the namimg of territories/water bodies, etc. We really don't put much stock into this until it means something to us personally, and I try to deliver that to my students. @gsharpe, thanks for the North Korea link, I will certainly have to use sections of it for my class. Thanks for pointing it out.
