New readings for Japanese Literature section
Part 6
USC Continuing Education Units (CEUs)
I contacted the USC School of Continuing Education to get more information about the CEUs.
Each CEU is $50. The total is $300 for all 6 units.
They only issue the type of CEUs that are equitable to 10 hours of contact time, including homework, per CEU. These are not graduate units so the idea of semester or quarter doesn’t translate to these. You need 3 CEUs to equal 1 salary point.
I will provide a form for you to fill out at the end of our course if you are interested in obtaining CEUs because I have to verify that you have completed all seminar requirements.
Clarification on missed sessions
If you miss a Monday session, you need to complete one makeup assignment.
If you miss a Saturday session, you need to complete two makeup assignments.
The assignments can be posted in the Asia in My Classroom web forum section. Because you will miss the in-class discussion with your own group, we want you to share your experiences from the museum or lecture as your contribution.
Rosemary and Barbara are asking that each person (or a group) investigate a topic before and during the Field Study. Even if you are not going on the trip, you are still expected to participate.
Please email Rosemary or Barbara once you have decided on your topic:

We have great speakers and sessions and free lunch!
If you've missed a Saturday seminar session this spring, these workshops are an excellent option for a makeup assignment.
All teachers from any Los Angeles County school district can attend our workshops. Please encourage your colleagues to attend.
The USC School of Continuing Education has dropped the CEU pricing in half for our seminar.
You can purchase 6 units for $150!
Some of you have already filled out the forms, but I will bring revised CEU forms at our Monday, April 30th session with the new pricing so I will need to you to complete them again.
I have updated the assignment due date in our seminar requirements document.
Clay mentioned July 1st, but that date is a Sunday, so I have made it Monday, July 2nd. All assignments, including the web forum, lesson plans, and essay, and your CEU form are due by then. No late assignments will be accepted. If you do not turn in your CEU form before that date, it will not be processed.
Please remember we have a follow-up session on Monday, September 17th.
Kami,
I have an entire notebook for Teresa Beisel, Becky Cash, Elzbieta Gant, and Kathryn Walsh. I do not have the applications for credit but all other requirements are both printed out and on a CD. How do I get theis to you? Can I submit the assignments as an attachment in RTF, (Rich Text Format)? SHould I send them in an email attachment to you? or Clay?
