All you LAUSD fans have to know that as part of David Brewer's farewell document, he made sure to mention that he was instrumental in seeing that the study of the Chinese language was added to our schools as a part of his accommplishments. Okay, he deserved a hand for that, but not much else I suppose.

Clayton Dube gave a very knowledgeable introduction to the course and gave examples on how to use East Asian culture in any subject that is taught. He was able to apply it even to volleyball by pointing out that an olympic volleyball team was being coached by a Chinese immigrant.

It wasn't very shocking how much more the U.S. consumes of East Asian imports, than exporting to East Asia. Its not a secret that we are very much in "the red" with China alone. Point is also well-made that teaches in the U.S. are not well-informed of the East Asian history and culture, nor do the teachers have the time nor seek it to study something they don't have a lot of access to it. The Freeman Foundation (Founded 15 years ago) is formed by freeman who started AIG, an insurance company. The Freeman's focus on K-12 to get students interested in Asian culture. Since I am a Korean-American, born and raised in america, I found it interesting to hear about the geographical points in Korea and that the #2 language to learn is Chinese.

Korean Air has the most access to all of the big East Asian countries. It's interesting to know the different views of the East Asian countries of the same geographical places.
