This session was more challenging for me as I have never found it easy to interpret poetry. Yet Dr. Schaberg was so patient and encouraging in his attempts to get us to think and share. I was amazed at how much could be interpreted from the three stanzas of the poem "Quince". Were the two originally strangers? Were they simply flirting? Were they heading toward marriage?
I enjoyed the poem "Guan ju" because of the pictures and ideas it painted about courtship, anticipation, marriage.
"The Kingdom's Dead" is very graphic and seems to be a memorial for the vanquished, a remembrance for those who died heroically.

It never occurred to me that poetry was a safe way to express political views.

The Master Kong Rap was a fun read.
