Professor Jung-Kim brought into perspective the political seperation of the North and South Korea. At the same time I appreciate listening to Sarah's first hand experience and interaction with those who are involved in what is happening between the North and South today...Sadly like what is happening in the Middle East, much we see and read is propaganda...I hope oneday the North and South will be reunited.

On another note...as an anthropology student, we were shown a documentary of Koreans owning sweat shops in El Salvador. It was appauling to see how these youngsters were being treating by these Korean business owners. Girls were forced to be given shots to prevent pregancy, and forced abortions....It was overwhelmingly disturbing...That imagine has always remained in my mind, when I hear about Korea...It was a very popular American brand that was ran by Korean businessmen...

One of our favorite mayor on the island of Hawaii is of Korean descent...he was born and raised in Hawaii...Ironically, since I am doing a delayed entry...and Hawaii is now on tsunami watch, due to the earth quake in Chile, which triggered the last tsunami in 1960.
My dad and aunt informed me Harry Kim, who was the Hawaii County Civil Defense administrator prior to being our mayor, who is world reknown for his expertise on tsunamis and brought the tsunami defense program to Hawaii..He is one of the most humble man in his position one would ever meet.

following on the "rival" Olympic games between Korea and its adversaries, the LA Times on Friday February 26 had the article NIGHT FANTASTIC all dedicated to Kim Yuna and her triumph as the
First Figure Skating Gold Medal for Korea

Korea continues pushing its young people to bring the country's name above Japan in all they do. Olympics included. Is part of the fight that had lasted centuries.[Edit by="pcampuzano on Mar 2, 4:41:11 PM"][/Edit]
