For those vegans and vegetarians out there or if you have friends or family who practice vegetarian or vegan diets, just a heads up if you are missing sushi and/or other Japanese food that you no longer eat due to dietary restrictions, I highly recommend checking out a restaurant called Shojin. This Japanese restaurant has two locations. One is in Little Tokyo located inside the Little Tokyo Shopping Center, which is a fun center and area to explore once you are ready to walk off all the tasty food you've eaten. I have spent my last two birthdays at that location and have had to waddle away after each meal. The other location is in Culver City, which I had the pleasure of visiting for the first time this past weekend. The locations offer slightly different menus but are equally great with food and service.
Shojin is easily my first option when celebrating a special occasion, or if I get a sushi craving. Their menu goes beyond the avocado, cucumber roll that vegetarians and vegans are only offered at many sushi restaurants. Even if you do not practice a vegan or vegetarian diet but have an open mind, Shojin is definitely worth checking out. I have taken meat-eaters to both locations, and they could not believe the food did not contain seafood or meat. Check it out when you get the chance!
