Thank you for this. I use this film in my World History course because our textbook only contains a SENTENCE about the Rape of Nanking. It's a little difficult for students to watch because it so graphic, but it's an important subject to discuss. Thank you for sharing the source I plan on looking it over this summer and using it the next school year.

This contains a thorough lesson plan for the docudrama, IRIS CHANG - THE RAPE OF NANKING. It was produced by Toronto ALPHA (Association for Learning & Preserving of the History of WWII in Asia). It contains information on events of the book, the controversy surrounding the book, Chang's tragic end, subject matter topics, and guiding questions. I would definitely use clips of the film in my class. The study guide contains helpful listings of all the DVD chapters with topics and start and stop times.

It can be found at http://www.edmontonalpha.org/study_guide.pdf

This is a really great resource. I really liked the link between nanking and the comfort women in korea. It might be interesting to link the treatment of women in this war with the treatment of women during other more recent conflicts. I just read a story today about the syrian conflict where women are often forced into prostitution or marriage out of economic necessity. It might be interesting to do some sort of compare and contrast thing.
