Where on earth did you find this? This is hilarious! And the subtle homage to John Lennon at the end? Priceless.

Thanks! This is me I have to say! I was in the music biz and was always looking for ways to crack up the guys. Hey - you would sound Japanese too if you changed lyrics to anything using only Japanese corp. names.
A girl band by the name Shonen Knife ALMOST broke big here in US market. So far, Sukiyaki is the only dent.

I remember remakes of this song by R&B artists in the 90s. It was a huge hit among the youth even then! =0)

Well done, Mcjones! And yes, I certainly do remember Shonen Knife. Great band!

At the Saturday seminar, Bill Tutsui mentioned the many Japanese cultural influences we enjoy here in the US. A song he mentioned was Sukiyaki, which went to #1 on the pop charts in the mid 60s. Yes, a song sung completely in Japanese! I vaguely remembered that song and used it, or the melody, to write a goof tune long ago extolling the overwhelming Japanese corporate hegemony sweeping the US in the 80s. Yikes, they're buying everything! I hope you enjoy it, Bill did.
