I saw the same show and the name of it was "1421 The Year China Discovered the World" by Gavin Menzies. It was an excellent documentary. I was so blown away by the data that I purchased the book and dvd. I've shown clips of the dvd several times during my science classes. The objective of science students was to focus on different types of scientists such as Zheng He. Students are always stunned after viewing and hearing about the possibility of explorers before Columbus.

Presenting on the Instructions of Family and how to behave was interesting. Sharing these with students and having them compare to how they behave today would be interesting.

What can I say...Clay! it is funny because I never really knew much of the controversies surrounding Marco Polo. The other day when I was going over Chinese New Year with my students, one of the topics was on what china has contributed to the world. When the topic of spaghetti came up, many of my students mentioned Marco Polo. When I let them know that there are theories that suggest he did not exist, there was immediate interest. They thought I was joking with them, and these are 7th graders! They wanted me to prove it!
