    Stephanie,

At orientation, I don't recall them telling us that we couldn't check in luggage.
We were strongly encouraged to pack light because we'll be responsible for lugging our own luggage around.

I did a trial run of packing everything into a 25" suitcase and it looks like it's not going to work, I may need to go up to the next bigger size.

What size suitcase is everyone else bringing?

I am glad that it seems we are in the same situation. I did not want to be the person to hold everybody up at baggage claim!

I am not sure what size bage I am bringing yet - I just know it will be one with wheels.

Thanks for the tip on the travel/shopping bag, Amanda!

    Hi, y'all:

As I understand from the orientation and posts that we are bringing carry-on sized luggage that we will check in.

I plan to use my Travel Pro. A friend suggested a carry-on sized Eagle Creek roll-y that doubles as a backpack, if any of you are still looking. Like Priya, I'm a big fan of REI and know that you can get it there.

BTW, I've watched several packing videos lately and remarkably--despite years of international travel--did not know the tip about rolling up clothes in luggage! It really does save on space.

    cheers and check ya.

No worries.... I think mines may be a 26"suitcase (with wheels) that I'm bringing. (I know that isn't considered carry-on size) I talked to a guy who went on this trip 2 years ago and he told me he took a bigger suitcase with no problem...just as long as your're able to lug it around yourself and keep up with the group.

One good suggestion he gave - pack small packages of snacks that you like in your suitcase for when you get the munchies. (Anyone with nut allergies in our group?)

I've used these "compression bags" before and they work well. They're available at REI, Bed Bath and Beyond, and many other places.

    See everyone on Friday!

    Thanks for the tips everyone!

I plan on bringing a 26" rolling duffel to check in and a backpack as a carry on. Hopefully that will do. 8)
