GuestThis list is not East Asia Pacific specific, and yet it is; these sites provide some of the foundational "stick to your noggin", meat and potatoes, basic geographic literacy tools for my 9th grade World Geography learners.

This link is provided by the CIA World Factbook for public use and is updated yearly. It is useful for students needing detailed information concerning nation-state demographics, physical geographic characteristics a bit of history and contemporary international political, as is:
http://www.nationmaster.com/index.php
Nation Master is a site that is very useful for more detailed and specific domestic issues regarding health, crime, education, etc. This site also gives students more interactive opportunities using graphs, mapping of information so that they can explore and create their own comparative visuals for reports and presentations.
http://www.virtualtourist.com/
Virtual Tourist is a user created travel cite with information such as "off the beaten path" and "dangers and warnings". Students and teachers can also make up a "where we've all travelled page, and class poster". Frommer's is another good travel site.

Hey teachers, here's some fun with paper craft. There are many papercraft websites, but the Cannon Papercraft location has a lot of cool architectural activities.
Some of these creations are quite involved and difficult, but you only need white card-stock, scissors, glue, tape, paper clips, a color printer and ability appropriate kids. The Temple of Heaven in China...Got it! Himeji Castle in Japan...Got it! Simpler stuff? Dharma Dolls, Chinese Dragons, Chinese Phoenixes...Got 'em....and for the budding vexillologists
