Mr. Donn, a middle school teacher in Maryland offers a collection of resources for teachers. The powerpoints in my opinion, are EXTREMELY VALUABLE, because they include easy to read text, cool graphics and detailed timelines. I browsed at a few with a chromebook which allowed me to view it in google slides. I recommend browsing the powerpoints and then re-creating them on your own computer and customized them to make them fit your teaching style. Another option though is to use them "as-is" within your lessons and explain the students how to make their own (Powerpoint) GOOGLE slides. Most middle school kids are using Google Chrome to create presentations. It is important that we teach them to how to enhance basic presentations with graphics, sound, animations, and video clips.

This website is mostly for 6th graders studying ancient history. However, I plan to use it with 7th graders as a review. The games and activities are interactive and engaging. There is a "Chinese History Dress Up" activity, jeopardy game, and picture as words game.

"The true story of Mulan"

These stories will help teachers teach to the Common Core standards which demand rigorous reading and writing in the Social Sciences. The stories that caught my eye was Nian the Horrible Monster because it explains the history of Chinese New Year. I teach my students to read about and understand culture and religious holidays. The story of Mulan caught my attention because it relate to the Disney movie. It's important to teach students to research and analyze historical firms and know the difference between fact and fiction.

This website has five major components that I found very helpful for middle school teachers. The links all work quickly and they are not trying to sell you products. I really appreciate when teachers help other teachers by providing free resources in one centralized location.
