GuestHello!
I am Jeanette Baybo and am looking forward to attending this seminar. I teach all levels of World History at Mira Monte High School. Currently, I am department chair and since we are new school there is alot to do. I love to learn and at times learn from my students while we research historical topics. Also, I love to see my students learn and get excited about topics while we research and/or do projects.
My interests and hobbies range from photography to horse back riding and traveling. I have horse packed in the Colorado rockies a couple of times and look forward to future trips. This past year I have attempted to learn how to ride barrels on my paint horse, Molly.
My travels have not gone beyond the American Continent, but I am hopeful that I may use my passport in the next year or two internationally.
I look forward to meeting everyone!
Take care,
Jeanette

GuestMy name is Libby Huff and I am from Long Beach. I teach at Polytechnic High School in the Pacific Rim Magnet Academy; which focuses on the culture, history and business relationships between the Pacific Rim countries. All the students take either Japanese or Chinese as their foreign language. Presently, I am fluent in Spanlish and just picked up a wee bit o' Scottish in the Highlands.
Although I have taught World, U.S. and Govt/Econ, I am currently teaching the 9th and 11th grade magnet electives; Intro to Computers/Intro to Business for the 9th graders and Int'l Business/Int'l Relations for the 11th graders.
I have been looking forward to this program for two years! I took Chinese for a year a Whittier College to prepare for a study aboard. Sadly the trip was cancelled b/c of Tiananmen Square (does that date me at all?). I am particularly interested in the business and economic side of Japan and China.
See you all Monday!

GuestHello everyone,
My name is Gita Khatkar. I teach English at Chaparral High School in Temecula. I am originally from India. I hosted a teacher from South Korea in my classroom and loved working with her. My students also enjoyed her tremendously. She shared some fascinating cultural stories. I am interested in knowing more about South Korea and China. My district is considering a prolonged student and teacher exchange program with South Korea. So we may get to go and teach there starting next summer and I would love to get a chance. We already have a significant amount of South Korean students and I am almost certain that I will have another South Korean teaher in my classroom this year. I look forward to meeting everyone!July 26, 2009 at 6:05 am #30471Anonymous
GuestI'm Meg. I teach AP Euro History, Advanced World History, and I'm the ASB Advisor at Clairemont High School in San Diego. We're a mix of middle class, working class, and poor students with almost an even number of white and hispanic students, and just a sprinkling of others. I have traveled extensively in western Europe, and have had the pleasure to do short studies in England, France, Italy, and Russia. I guess that is why I own a Vespa! I feel woefully inadequate in my studies of Asia and that is why I am excited about this study opportunity. Roxanne, I want to hear about your trip! I've been to Africa, besides Europe, but never Asia.

GuestMy name is Jennifer Hahn and I teach in the Bellmore-Merrick district, which on Long Island (New York). I'm a late responder to the forum b/c I have been traveling most of the summer. I am both excited to take the seminar and be in the LA area. I teach World history ancient to 1700, but would like to teach more modern world history which is why I am taking the course. I will be teaching economics for the first time this year and hope to cover some international economic issues and those first readings may trigger some interest from my econ students. Looking forward to meeting everyone.
