The link below is a 10 min trailer from a film screened recently at UCLA. The film is a documentary from the Korean perspective about the forced transfer of Koreans from Central Asia under Stalin. In 1937, Stalin transfered 180,000 Koreans from their homes along the border of North Korea to collective farms. They speak fluent Russian, however some of the elders still speak an ancient Korean dialect as well. An interesting fact is that the oldest Korean Theatre group in the world is in Kazakhstan. Their story is fascinating as told by survivors and third generation Koreans who refer to themselves as Koryo Saram.
