The Khan Academy website is a great source to learn about the various dynasties. The home page is titled, “Art of Asia: China”. It has a link to all the dynasties of China in the form of a timeline, beginning with ‘Neolithic art in China’ and ending with the ‘Ming Dynasty’. Once you click on the link, it offers the reader various pictures and excerpts regarding the era or the picture/ art work. At the end of the school year when my students and I are covering the China Unit, I will provide them with the following link and create a webquest for them to discover China on their own.

I focused on the Tang Dynasty because little information is given in the textbooks compared to other dynasties. This website has various links which include introduction to Tang dynasty, Steele of the Buddha Maitreya, Dancer, Camel, Central Asia wine peeddler, Chinese Buddhist cave shrines, Mogao caves at Dunhuang, The Paintings and manuscripts from cave 17 at Mogao, Taoism in the Tang and Song Dynasties.
