Website Review: China Knowledge (http://www.chinaknowledge.de/index.html)
I came across this website as I prepared for my lessons. This website contains tons of information about Chinese history and is easily accessible by the subtopics (events, religion, economy, arts, etc.) located on the right side. There are also three other sections of the website that can be accessed to further understand Chinese culture: Religions, Art and Literature. For an adult or maybe even a high school student, this website contains all of the facts necessary to understand Chinese history, especially the dynasties covered in our Ancient History course. However, I was unable to use this website as a resource for my sixth graders, who would probably struggle with the amount of text intermingled with Chinese characters and a lack of many visuals that would interest preteens who have grown up with Youtube and iPods. As an educator, however, this website is an easily accessible resource of information that would aid my instruction of Ancient History: I just wish that it was a little more kid-friendly for my own students.
