    I did not know that this was still law/policy or even common practice. What came to mind was issue that we have in the US, social security. Who will pay for the retirement of the current people if the population will be considerably low when the forty somethings are ready to retire? Is that an issue that the country is worried about or is that something that they will deal with when the time comes.

    Maintaining low birthrate remains a priority in china. China has remianed a low birthrate for about 20 years. Many people has asked the government to relax the policy for new dempgraphics challenges such as a rapidly aging society. A lower birthrate in China has been absorbed for other means besides the policy. "A country's birthrate is closely related to its economic and socail development." From what I understood about this ariticle was that the more developed (urbanized) a country is the less children per household.
