I can not believe that this letter was found in one of the Halloween decoration. I wouldn't be surprised if this is not a hoax after so many stories have surfaced about poor working conditions in china and low wages. May be this letter is a cry for help for those who are working in these factories. Not too long ago, we heard about the apple factories where some of their employees were committing suicide because they could no longer take the abuse from their employees.

I was not to sure what Chinese Labor Camp meant so I researched it. Apparently in China you can be imprisoned with out being found guilty. You are placed in a four year "re-education through labor". This sounds really concerning and scary. I think back to the article I read yesterday about legalizing prostitution. In yesterdays article it mentioned that women who are caught prostituting are sent to Labor camps as punishment but the men who pay these women are left unharmed. I found a recent article saying that this year 2013 China's government might re-write this policy but in reality they are calling it something else with the same concept!

It seems to be the week to criticize the Chinese government with a letter. First, there was the letter that was found by a woman in Oregon in a box of Halloween decorations. The letter basically is a plea for help and describes mistreatment of the workers in Chinese factories. It also criticizes the Chinese government for persecuting those opposed to their policies. The letter asks the person who finds it to report this mistreatment to the World Human Right Organization. The letter is in broken English and no legitimate human rights organization has confirmed its veracity. So, who knows it could be a hoax. There is another letter that is definitely legitimate and it is surprising for its directness. The letter was written by prominent Chinese intellectuals who warn of an impending revolution if political reforms are not put in place by the Chinese government. In the end, I think the Chinese government will ignore both letters because it prefers the status quo in regards to political reform.
