    Hi Clay,
Thanks again for the presentations on Thurs. Here in France, the national curriculum focuses on comparing China's rise to 'global power' with the rise of the US during the same time period. We have a grand total of 6-8 hours to devote to China and most of our time is spent on post-1949. But Great Leap Forward, Cultural Rev, and econ reforms are all very helpful. As is some of the background. You can be sure we'll use some of your resources -- they're great.

    Hi Folks,

Here's the Cultural Revolution presentation from Thursday's pre-conference institute. Please feel free to use it with your own students, but do not share it with others or post it online. Thank you.

I'd love to hear how you teach about this remarkable period. It inspired people abroad and was part of a worldwide youth movement. In this instance, however, one figure at the top utilized it against others.

There are many films about the cultural revolution. One of the best is Morning Sun from Carma Hinton and Richard Gordon. The website includes many wonderful resources.
