Hi, my name is Laura Palmer and I teach at Sierra Madre Elementary School. I am a 4th Grade Language Arts and Social Studies teacher, focusing on California History. As a California History teacher, I feel that we have a historical connection to East Asia, and look forward to increasing my background knowledge that I can then pass on to my students.

My name is Isaac Huang and I am the Curriculum and Language Development Resource Teacher at Norma Coombs Elementary and McKinley K-8 School in Pasadena USD. I have spent the past ten years as a kindergarten, first grade, and high school English teacher. I am excited to learn more about East Asia in an attempt to reconnect with my family roots. Growing up as an ABC (American Born Chinese), I always cognizant of the lack of Asian studies in my junior high and high school course. Hopefully I will gain the tools and information needed to become a teacher that incorporates more Asian studies in not only my curriculum but also the curriculum of my peers.

    72 544x376 Hi Everyone,

My name is Linda Chang and I am currently a Curriculum Resource Teacher at Willard Elementary in Pasadena Unified. My small group intervention focuses on remediation of core skills and offering rigor to students who need more challenge. For the past 7 years, I have taught 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 8th grade English and U.S. History. On the other hand, I am aware that with each passing generation, a piece of the Chinese culture is lost. Participating in this seminar will provide me with more information about my background so that I can effectively incorporate Asian studies into the curriculum at Willard.

I look forward to learning with all of you! =)

My name is Lindsay Lewis and I am a third grade teacher at Sierra Madre Elementary in Pasadena. I am interested in learning about East Asia to connect with my students better. I have visited many places, and I am interested in world culture. I am looking forward to having discussions with my third graders about East Asia as well as possibly having a better grasp on Asia's economic influence on the US.
