    Another Asian pop culture trend is Hello Kitty. My students are crazy for Hello Kitty!!! The link below shows how much this Asian icon is infiltrating American culture.

    All over this country teens and preteens are craving Japanese icons they don't even know. My niece wanted Domo and she didn't even know where he came from. Both boys and girls proudly put pictures of Yugioh and Nurato on their walls and they've never played the card game nor seen the series. I think this is good however. It creates a International Children's Network. And maybe understanding each other in the future will become easier.

    As Korea has a K pop culture inspired fashion, Japan has Harajuku.

    Some background

    Harajuku (原宿) in Japan refers to an area around Harajuku train station. Harajuku style is a japanese fashion adopted by the teenagers and young adults in the area and its side streets which have many boutiques, trendy stores and used clothes shops. Japanese Harajuku Girls and Harajuku Style has been used to describe teens dressed in many fashion styles ranging from Gothic Lolita (also gothic loli) Visual Kei, Ganguro, Gyaru, Kogal, to "cute" Kawaii style clothing (http://www.harajukustyle.net/)
