Congratulations on your completion! You know all you had to do was attend a lecture to make up an assignment
How was the rest of your China visit? Did you see anything else that connected to things we discussed in class? Your run certainly does sound like an amazing once in a lifetime experience.

The race was amazing! I went sight-seeing and my tour guide mentioned a lot of historical background that was discussed in class. Mostly about the dynasties and the Great Wall. My tour guide spoke about Wu Zetian and explained her history. I thought that was very neat because Dr. Dube had covered it in class. I literally felt as if I was back in class during this discussion. China was amazing! I loved it very much.

On Saturday, May 16, 2015, I ran the Great Wall of China Marathon. This was an amazing experience for me because I had been planning to do this since 2011. I was thrilled to be a part of this experience and trained for months. Two days before the actual marathon, my tour group took all the runners to the Wall for a three mile hike. We were given 2 hours to complete the practice hike and were told to take it easy and to mentally prepare for the actual race. This practice hike reassured me that this was not going to be like any other marathon that I had ever done before. On the day of the race, we were expected to run the Wall twice for a total of 6-7 miles. This section of the race was very arduous and many of us began to climb the wall by crawling and holding on to the stairs. Many people took short breaks along the way. Most of the race took place around many of the surrounding villages. Many people came out to see the runners and children were high-fiving us. One group of children even asked me for my autograph during the race. I was in full awe and could not believe that I was actually there. This was a once-in-a-life-time experience that I will forever cherish and share with my students and never forget.
