Good article, thanks for sharing. Prostitution has been a world-wide problem which has become easier to ignore than to deal with it. One of the many solution is to legalized it. In conservative societies, legalization or prostitution "massage parlors" it is not likely to happen. I think that this is not a problem just for China, but it is present in many other countries too. Once in a while we hear about prostitutions rings that have origins way back to Asia. How can a country with between four and six million sex workers be oblivious to such problem. I think the government, even though is not acknowledging it, is allowing it low key as long as it is not so conspicuous. Massage parlors are the solution to make it more less taboo.

This was a good article. What caught my attention and is alarming is when the article mentions that men who seek prostitutes are not punished. The prostitutes that are caught are sent to work camps for two years! I believe that if prostitution was legal it would decrease sexual transmitted diseases. However, in the meanwhile the men that seed out these women should also be punished.

My cousin has been living in China this year, working in the factory town of Guangzhou. He's had a lot to say about the Chinese culture, some good, some concerning. One aspect that surprised him was how pervasive massage parlors are. This article goes ponders the question of whether China will ever get progressive enough to legalize prostitution, as many other nations (Sweden, for example) have done.
