This is a very good website that explains China’s One Belt, One Road (OBOR) foreign policy and domestic economic strategy. The idea is that the belt is a network of overland roads and rail routes, and other infrastructure projects that connect China’s commerce to the Middle East and into northern Europe. The road is a maritime equivalent: a network of planned coastal infrastructure projects that connect China to Africa and northern Europe.
China claims that it will comply with the “Three No’s”: (1) no interference in other nationa’s affairs, (2) no to increasing “spheres of influence,” and (3) no to hegemony. However, critics wonder if China is trying to beef up its national security through commerce.
This website is beneficial to students when discussing current economic events and/or modernization. The world is watching how China will follow through on its economic policies while edging its way to being recognized as a power player on the global scale, but also maintaining environmental and humanitarian responsibilities.
