    Unesco: World Heritage Sites
    http://whc.unesco.org/en/list/

World Heritage Sites are a great way to introduce a country for K-12 students. This site has an interactive map, and a list of all the sites broken down by country. If you were to search Great Wall (of China) for example you would be treated to articles, photos, even videos of the location. The text features might be a bit much for elementary level students but for images, captions on photos, and videos, it’s just fine. The interactive map is also a plus. The site also links current news items on the country or site and upcoming events. It’s quite comprehensive in this area.
In the search box type a known site or country. Example: Thailand you would get this search result:

    Ban Chiang Archaeological Site (1992)
    Historic City of Ayutthaya (1991)
