Yes, be very careful if showing to students, the level of violence is a bit too much. Even though our students are used to watching R rated movies. Make sure to get the permission letters singed prior to viewing, at least for LAUSD.

Permission slips are a must and if there is a parent who does not approve, then that student can not be in the room when the movie is shown.

Finally, a movie that I enjoyed watching with my children at home! This movie is excellent. What child is not impressed by the Japanese samurai? Be careful teachers, the movie is rated R mostly for the violent battle scenes but you can explain those why those scenes are necessary.

Anyways, I hope you enjoy reading my review. I learned a great deal about the film and Japanese history in general. I suggest you watch this film with your students after they have read about feudal Japan. It fits right in.

By the way, I posted a lesson plan on Feudal Japan last week. Check it out!
